Website Images

There are various aspects of the images on your site which need to be addressed before your site goes live. Are the images royalty free, are they high quality, are they informative, decorative and will they attract sales?

Today’s modern computer monitors don't have the same resolution and quality of photographs but they can display a wide range of colours and tones. If you take care with your images, you may be able to present the user with the high quality experience of viewing a photographic slide.

Naming your images correctly

It is a widely known Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tip that naming your images with keyword rich titles and adding the appropriate alt and title tags helps your rankings. Although the effectiveness of this process has dropped in recent years it is important to get this right for more than just search engine optimisation. By adding appropriate alt tags you are making your site distinguishable in a speech browser.

Dont overuse the Alt Tags

In the years since alt tags were discovered as an area to place keywords SEO “black hatters” have heavily abused this fact and webmasters have ’stuffed’ their ‘alt tags’ with all manner of keywords. Google has since found ways to combat this and treats such strategies as spam.

There are many sites and services online where you can find high quality images at a justified price but if you add your own images to a site then you further increase your chances of being found through image search.

By adding good quality images to your site which have the appropriate labels you can create a site which is attractive to the search engine spiders and your site visitors.
